Roles - General Evaluator
The General Evaluator evaluates every aspect of the meeting except the
speakers. They evaluate the:
- Sergeant of Arms – room setup
- Presiding Officer – business meeting, guests recognized
- Timing – was the meeting kept on time?
- Toastmaster – agenda, hosting of the meeting, transitions,
introductions, lectern exchange
- Table Topics – was the topic relevant, did the Topic Master
call on members who didn’t have a role, fun or engaging
- General Comments – what went well, where can we improve
This is considered a major role and it will not be given to anyone who
has been a member less than 4 weeks.
Responsibilities - During the Meeting
- Sit near the back of the room.
This gives you a full view of the meeting and the participants
- Verify each speaker’s time
- Take notes (use the GE form found in the Resource Box) on everything
you see happen/not happen
- Introduce the evaluation team: Speech Evaluators, Topic Master,
Grammarian, Timer and Ah Counter
Note: Grammarian and Timer explain their roles; Evaluators,
Ah Counter and Topic Master do not
- Re-introduce the evaluation team and ask for their reports
- Give your general evaluation of the meeting using the notes you took

- Spontaneity - Create a "speech on the fly" with your final report
